Original archive (1outer1.zip, 947k) - The main download file above (DOSBOX_OUTRIDGE.ZIP) is pre-configured to work DOSBox. This file, 1outer1.zip, is the original and may require installation / setup.
Outer Ridge is sort of a 3D interpretation of the classic Asteroids arcade game. You fly around in space and shoot nicely pre-rendered asteroids. You can also sometimes collect powerups. Once you've achieved the level objective, you just need to fly through the exit, and you'll be ready for the next stage. The 3D perspective is neat and visually impressive but despite the two radar screens, it's difficult to control and disorienting to watch. I didn't find it much fun to play, and would recommend a typical 2D version of Asteroids for most people instead, even though Outer Ridge sports such great (and fast) visuals.
