Astrofire is a well-made Asteroids inspired space shooting game. It features great pre-rendered graphics, powerful sound effects, and new powerup items such as different weapons and shields. Its graphics look great and the game plays very smoothly. Definitely a fun game, even if you're tired of traditional Asteroids-type games. Although originally shareware, the developer has released the entire game as freeware! Check out their more recent games as well which expand on the Astrofire formula such as TerraFire.
