Caverns of Xaskazien may have been more popular, had its name been easier to remember/spell! (I still haven't got it down even after researching for this game posting!) It's a turn-based Roguelike game with randomized dungeons where the goal is to defeat the evil Xaskazien. Although it shares many traits with other Roguelikes, it also has its own unique feel, in part due to its visual look, and in part due to gameplay mechanics. Only the tiles immediately around your player get revealed as you walk around, making playing the game a nerve-wracking experience as you never know what's coming up around the corner. It's also pretty unforgiving as it's quite easy to die. The Windows version includes several improvements and is a bit more fair. A sequel, Caverns of Xaskazien II, was also released for Windows many years later and is still in active development.
Make sure that NUM LOCK is ON and use the arrow keys to move. (No diagonal movements!)
