Anacreon is a text-mode strategy game where you take on the role of a totalitarian ruler of a small galactic empire. By issuing commands to the unfortunate denizens who are under your rule, you can conquer other civilizations and expand your own. This is a complex strategy game that has been under development (on and off) for many, many years. As such it's complicated to get started; view the getting started manual, as well as the full manual to get up to speed. Certainly not a very flashy game but if you love space strategy / simulations this is one you'll need to check out since fans of the genre consider it a classic. (The original game and later ports are by George Moromisato, the DOS port/update is/was maintained by Adam Luker.)
