Pitfall is probably the original "falling down a well" game which likely inspired other similar games like Deep and Jellyfish. The object of this simple game is simply to move left and right as your ship (¥) falls down an ASCII well. Avoid walls (10 hits = death) and smileys (instant death) while collecting stars for points. That's it! Monochome only text-mode. Try for the high score! (This game is from 1984 and runs VERY fast so you will need to use a low cycles count or a slowdown program.)
