Original archive (PickleWars_registered, 2,713k) - The main download file above (DOSBOX_PICKLEREG.ZIP) is pre-configured to work DOSBox. This file, PickleWars_registered, is the original and may require installation / setup.
Pickle Wars Shareware (picklewars.zip, 929k) - The shareware version of the game.
Pickle Wars is a sidescrolling shooting, jumping, and item collection game. The gameplay itself is fairly basic, the animation is a bit clunky but overall the game still plays fairly well. The plot is that giant pickle-shaped aliens are trying to take over the Earth, and only brave Dave, armed with his Salad Shooter, can save the world. The graphics and sound effects are pretty average, but both are unique, as is the storyline. I didn't personally enjoy it as much as Apogee or Epic's sidescrollers, but you'll have to try it out for yourself ... its a relatively well-known game from its time. (MVP Software released Pickle Wars full version for free on their website here.)
