DOSGames.com Review: Rating: 3
Lexi-Cross simulates a futuristic gameshow which works like a combination of Wheel of Fortune, Scrabble, and Battleship. Which sounds like a decent idea but in practice, it works like a slower, less fun version of both. You're presented with a large grid, and need to click around to find the word spaces. Then you need to guess letters, and hope you find vowel tiles to guess vowels. Once you decipher the complete phrase you can solve your puzzle. Your opponent is simultaneously trying to solve their own puzzle. You can play against a human opponent or against the computer are varying difficulty levels. The full game contains 600+ puzzles but the demo has far fewer, and not as many options. Overall it has good production values but I did not personally enjoy the game itself. Although apparently in 1996 Computer Gaming World magazine declared it one of the best 150 computer games ever, so, what do I know ...
