Avenger is a single-screen-per-level shmup that takes place in spaaaaaace. Similar to Space Invaders or Galaga. Unlike a lot of games in this genre, there is actually a story and some nicely rendered cutscenes that you can watch. (Even after you die, you get a nice animation of your death!) The enemies come at you in waves, and after you destroy them all, you can progress to the next. Shoot and keep shooting! The registered version allows two player action but unfortunately the shareware is one player only. It seems quite difficult and you only get one life/ship so take your time and be careful; staying alive is more important than passing the stage quickly!
