Avanor is a ASCII roguelike which follows the general model of ADOM but adds its own unique twists. It's unclear exactly how finished it is, and with the promised version 0.6.0 being announced 14 years ago (as of 2020) it seems unlikely that any more updates are forthcoming. Like most roguelikes you first choose your character type, then venture into the world and try not to get killed. Oh there's definitely a quest of some sort, but your main task will be: Don't die. My first playthrough I was slaughtered shortly after leaving down by bandits. But if you enjoy roguelikes you might want to try it, since it's fairly obscure but seems like it had a lot of effort put into it. One annoying thing is that the in-game help doesn't work ... seems like it's looking for the included manual/index.html file but the DOSBox filename is INDEX~1.HTM so it can't find it. Open the file in your web browser or view the online Avanor manual to see the NECESSARY list of keys and other info!
