So, happy Australia Day aussies! (Or should that be Merry Australia Day? )
What kinda celebrations, if any, are popular regarding this holiday? If it's at all like Canada Day ... well, we really don't do anything for Canada Day other than lounge around since we get the day off work and set off some fireworks, one or both of which accompanied by alcohol.

I spent mine surrounded by a bazillion other nationalities, speaking their own languages. To me...that IS Australia. It was quite lovely. We had sushi at lunch time...and we had...Italian? for dinner... I love multi-cultural Australia.
Just days before we met a man who has lived all over the world...but is now a resident, and citizen of Australia. He told us his citizenship is his most prized posession..."You can take my house, but you can never take my citizenship!" he proclaimed in a stilted Scottish accent.
How do we celebrate Australia Day? Well, you don't have to go work and it's a great excuse to go out on the piss.
Anyway, Australia Day just commemorates the landing of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove back in 1788. There aren’t a lot of official celebrations really, or at least none that are worth paying attention to. Though if you listen to Sam Kekovich then it’s a day to “Celebrate living in the best bloody country on Earth” and I tend to agree.

australia day was me getting pissed to hell then losing memory of my 3 left days of holiday
One time I had a Jack and coke and it had a lime in it, And I saw that the lime was floating. That's good news man. Next time I'm on a boat and it capsizes, I'll reach for a lime... I'll be water skiing without a life preserver and people'll say 'What the hell?' and I'll pull out a lime...and a lemon too. I'm saved by the buoyancy of citrus.
