What chipset, in your opinion, is the best for Pentium MMX. I want to exclude the i430HX. The choice is:

Intel 430TX;
TXPro;
VXPro+

The TX Pro and VX Pro are VIA chipsets, renamed/rebadged by motherboard vendors like Matsonic/PC Chips/ECS etc....

They work well with the CPU you mentioned as well as the other socket 5/7 CPU's from AMD/Cyrix et.al.

The issue with the Intel TX chipset however is that it can only cache the first 64MB so installing more then this onto that board you may indeed see some performance loss.

The Intel HX chipset was the optimized chipset for the Socket 5/7, as I do beleive it could cache up to 256MB and the VX would cache I beleive 128MB.

I'm sure Unknown_K has some thoughts on this as he seems to be really knowledgable when it comes to this kind of thing ;)

TXPro is an ALi renamed Aladdin IV. So I have to ask to Unknown_K?
