This is the same problem i have, whenever I try to play any DOS game. The error says:

C:\PROGRA~1\LEMMIN~1\L2.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

That's an example for Lemmings 2. I really want to play  .

Ok guys first of all try using dosbox -
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/news.php?show_news=1
.
Download it,install it,run it.
Now in advance a short instruction on how to run a game in it.
1.write: mount c c:\ (where c is the letter of the disk your game is on)
2. IF your game needs some cd than write: mount d d:\ -t cdrom (where d is the letter of your cd-rom drive in which the game cd is)
3.Enter the game directory like in the good old dos. So something like:
c:(this is to enter the mounted drive)
cd games\lemmings
lemmings.exe
AND ENJOY :)
It will probabbly run a bit choppy ' cause it eats up a lot of memory.

BUT the other way (if you wanna run it in pure windows) is to fix the autoexec.nt problem. The problem lies in the fact that the autoexec.nt file is simply corrupted or not where it should be. Look in your system directory\repair. By deffault this file should be in: c:\windows\repair. Make sure that it's autoexec.nt not autoexec.nt_ . Copy the autoexec from repair directory to WINDOWS\system32 directory. You can also do the same thing with the config.nt in the repair directory.
