Help... Sim Tower file "requires an older version of this game"!

Please help if you can! I've lost a few files and many, many hours to this 
I started playing Sim Tower on Playclassic.games - It's all online through an emulator and I don't install anything. However sometimes when I go in again to try to play my saved file, it says "this file requires an older version of this game", and though it opens my tower is COMPLETELY GONE! it's just an empty landscape.
Has anyone encountered this before? Is the website fooling around with me? More importantly, can it be solved? I've climbed up to 3 nearly 4 stars a couple of times, just to die like this. I thought it was because I tried to do "save as", or clicked "no" when it asked me to save before exiting so I tried to avoid all this, but it happened a few more times.
Please help Here i was so happy that I could relive my tween-hood.
