I need help remembering the title for 90s Fantasy turn-based 2D game.
It was an underground civilization that sent out a team (your team of 5) to explore the surface I think they were running from the "Empire". While traveling you would run into bandits, trogs, snakemen, acolytes, roaches, slimes "pokemon style". Abilities were learned through scrolls. The characters would grunt when taking damage. If you stole something from a town, the guards attacked you.
There were different abilites to handle weapons, spells, being nimble to pick locks etc. You can set a chunk of the field on fire spell conflagration, or put them to sleep and leave what looks like snow on the ground.
There were silver dots on the map for special encounters, hidden doorways in the walls, cave system, lava
there were unicorns that you could kill. A race of that looked like aliens in ponchos. You can recruit a lizard man and catman to your team. When character died there were puddles of blood and the items they carry left in the spot.
