If it helps the game in question is the orignal MAX; and I am attempting to run it off the CD. I'm not exactly what information to give; other then I followed the reccomendations for memory, compatiability etc.

The error I am currently getting is, as stated, Screen Init Failed.

OS? Dosbox version? Mount lines?

Also: there is a remake project to run it in Windows (still in development):

Dosbox .73

And I mounted it to the Intrplay folder if I recall simply because I only own one MSDOS game and thats MAX.

Sorry, I'm not the greatest at figuring these things out but if I'm correct I mounted it to C:\intrplay if I remembered where I put it.

If you mean the line I used "mount c" to designate my C drive I posted it just a moment ago.

And CURRENTLY I changed it to as of a moment BEFORE you reposted too

C:\Dosgames

So the line for the directory for the game is; C:\dosgames\intrplay\max\maxrun

Maxrun being "maxrun.exe" for the file name.

Sorry; and the OS is Windows XP.

Mount line = what you input in dosbox to mount your virtual C: and CDdrive

Operating System -- Windows XP

C Drive Mount Line -- C:\dosgames

CDDrive Mount -- None (Didn't set)

Again; the information as requested for reposting.

Is not a mount line, I need to know what you input in dosbox when you mount your virtual C:
Man in the Hat wrote:CDDrive Mount -- None (Didn't set)
You need to install the game in dosbox and thus need to mount your CD
Man in the Hat wrote:Again; the information as requested for reposting.
Till now you did not post ANY relevant info.

If you continue like this this whole topic will be trashed.
My patience has limits.

Ok, please explain to me how to mount my CD Drive and for the exact thing I typed for the C mount was as follows;

mount c c:\dosgames (That is exactly what I typed and it said it was successful)

You didn't install the game in dosbox ?
So: explain me how you installed the game.
Also needed: CD drive letter under windows.

I ran the autoplay menu from the CD. It installed just find, sound card and everything. I just left it on the starter sound card (I think Sound Blaster 16)

And my CD Drive letter is F:\

Anything else I forgot to include or explain? As I said; first attempt to operate an MSDOS game on Windows XP so I appreciate the support. :)

Delete what you have done till now (the \intrplay\ folder, not the \dosgames\ folder)

You need to install the game IN dosbox.

Run dosbox, mount your virtual C and input:
mount d f:\ -t cdrom
d:
install

I did all that and I still have the same error message "Screen Init Failed"

UPDATE -- Because I was curious I tried to run the individual files with their extensions included; all of them received the same 'Screen Init Failed' error except when I ran 'maxrun.bat', but that only loaded in the orignal dosbox window so it was small and would of been hard to play.

Not sure if that helps.

Nope.
Once again you fail to give relevant and detailed info, as is:

1 -> Your complete mount lines (yes, once again, if it wouldn't be important I wouldn't ask)
2-> Did you delete the old install folder and installed the game IN dosbox?
3-> Also extremely important:
How do you launch your game? All your inputs, and detailed.

What I can tell you: MAX runs fine in dosbox, but you need to mount/install/configure/launch the game correctly, you screw up somewhere, but I can't guess where you go wrong .......

.... Wait a little bit, when -*IF*- I have some free time I will reinstall my MAX game and post some more detailed info for you ...... maybe this evening (GMT zone).
