Post by tinman47 »

I got Ubuntu and it worked for like the first week...
then My aunt did something to my computer...
So now whenever I boot up my computer,a
DOS Comp opens and says "INTEL BOOT AGENT
FAILED.STARTING UP." without booting up Ubuntu
and goes right to WinXP.Why is that? :(

Have you tried re-installing Grub?

You can repair GRUB by booting with the live CD and inputing in the terminal
sudo grub
This will start GRUB, and then, yeah, you must know where you installed Linux , the hdax or sdax , input accordingly
root (hd0,x)
Remember: it starts with hda0. so if linux is on hda6 the input must be:
root (hd0,5)

With the input
setup (hd0)
you will repair GRUB in the MBR.

If what I tell you sounds as Chinese and you understand yota of it ask someone who knows more then you to help you out. You can easily ( now not sóó easily , but ...) screw up your HD.
