nfs disk troubles

Post by abyss »

I have the need for speed cd but it won't work. It says it cannot read a certain file on the disk and it is always the same fiie. If i do not use dosbox though it will say the file that can't be read and that it is too small and i should should increase the strength of the file. I think some of the file may be corrupt. The disk is in absolutely terrible condition.

Edit: Is their a virus free program that un copy protects cd's because i think i may get somewhere if i moved the files manually. I tried every mounting strategy with dosbox.

Alcohol 120% or Clonecd is what you need.
They ain't freeware but you can get a fully working trial version (time limited) for both programs.
Google for them, easy to find.

watch out !!!!! behind you !!!! a big fat virus !!!! run Abyss, run !!!!!

LoL, good one dosraider

meh, just so you don't ask, you have to create an image of that disk and "move" it somewhere else. It will work....

249X166 I might add, but I want to ask you Dosraider, why? I switched to 800X600 and 640X480 and Wade's avatar doesn't scale the window...

And if that's not the problem, I have no idea what it could be...

When I'm at my sons house babysitting my granddaughter I'm on a 15" mon, and the wide of Wadeos ava is taking half screen width.
I think there are still lots of people on a 15" monitor.
If he doesn't want to change it, fine by me.
It will only lower my opinion of him, not that he should care about that, we prob never will met in real life.

and don't forget the ol'proverb:
you only need a big avatar to compensate for a very tiny penis.

dosraider: If you run Firefox, get a nice add-on called Adblock and nuke his avatar like any other obnoxious ad.

Btw. Using Adblock I have nuked the big DOS GAMES banner from the forum here :)

Why would you block the sites banner? It's really not that big. Anyway none of this has anything to do with the original topic, so how about you all shut up now unless you have something constructive to add.

Ok, give the cd a good clean with some cd cleaning solution, then wipe with a dry cloth outwards, not circles. Then download a program called Poweriso from www.poweriso.com and download it. Then after you have installed that rip the cd contents to a ISO file, then go to "mount" then "set number of drives" then press "1". Then re-click 'mount" press the new letter that has showed up in the box, then select the iso file that you ripped earlyer. Then when you close power iso it will probably say "This cd has an autorun feature, would you like to play it?" then click yes. Then if all goes well your game should be running. But if it doesnt rip then your cd probably needs to be scratch repaired.

Sigh! why don't you just use Deamon Tools

And if you probably don't know what it is, I suggest you use Version 3.4

erm, how to use PowerISO or Deamon Tools?

Because with deamon tools it's easy: install the software, reboot when asked to, right-click on the icon in the tray bar, and mount image :P

what's the matter, aren't you man enough to log in and say that to my face?

Meh, anyway, if you want a disk image poweriso it's still not the way to go, you should try Alcohol 120% or at least NERO.

I suggested Deamon Tools because it supports most of the image formats available: cue. iso, ccd, bwt, nrg, mds and cdi :P
