It depends on the type of ripping, if they just copied things from the CD then it could have files missing such as audio or if the game has a storyline movie etc etc.
This could be because these files are more than likely are situated within hidden folders located on the CD.
An ISO however, has everything including hidden files and folders, it is the exact replica or in other words a clone of the CD or DVD. The only thing missing is the CD-KEY if the game has one for installation.

And downloading anything from torrents or P2P application, has more chance of being dodgy than obtaining a legal copy via downloading from an official vendor.

No offence Adam but I don't think you fully understand how a RIP works! It's not just copying files (and trust me RIPers are not THAT stupid not to know that some files won't be copyed :D), it's a very complex process!

nah they don't hide stuff on cd's that the game requires... they do however hide copy protection on them...

Damn I hate that thing! It's very hard to make a decent CD image to bypass the copy protection, especialy if we're talking subchanel, MDS/RMPS or even SafeDisk protection

RMPS aint a copy protection -.- its a method of bypassing it... but it itself is not a copy protection...

plus most new games now a days have certain fixed things to allow bypassing certain things :)

Thus I finaly found out how to make the emotes appear animated again ;)
The thing is that if I wouldn't have asked on the HOTU forum I'd still be cursing at the site

I'm aware of that, I was just unsure because HotU usually makes a point of mentioning if certain things (eg. sound) is missing from the rip, which in the case of DK it does not.

Anyway thanks all the same. Have a good one.

sound problem in DK gold from Hotu

Post by edek »

Yo, ass holes B)

Your useless discussion made me angry, cause i had just the same problem with my dk gold sound. Fortunately i was able to find a solution

So, what did i do?
1. I downloaded full dungeon keeper from somewhere (not gold version, found by googling)
2. Sound dir in dk gold from hotu lacks certain files. I've extracted those files from non-gold non-hotu version to proper dir in dk gold hotu.

And that's all.

I hope someone still needs that solution

um dude thats like a fully obvious solution... but it requires you downloading both gold and the original which is just plain annoying unless you got a super speedy internet connection.
