Is the Sherlock game that you're refering to one that does elimination through deduction? The screen shows many small rectangulars with pictures on them and the choice of single player or tournament. I have the shareware version.

If it is the game you want and Wally hasn't given you, I could give you a copy if you tell me how to. Mine's shareware so no harm making copies. :D

No, I don't mean that, I mean game, which you have to guess some number combination. If it's 3-5-3-4 and you try 3-5-3-3 it says: 3 right number in right places. If 4-3-2-2 it says: 2 number wrong places. Sorry my bad english but hope so you understand. :)

Um, the only DOS game I know by the name of "Sherlock" is already on dosgames.com:

Listing: http://www.dosgames.com/g_puz3.php
Screenshot: http://www.dosgames.com/cgi-bin/ss.php? ... erlock.gif
Direct Download: http://www.kaser.com/msdos/sherlock.zip

Although that one sounds similar to the one you're looking for, it doesn't really have to do with numbers like you're describing afaik ... the numbers game sounds more like "Mastermind" (also on dosgames.com) except using numbers instead of colors ...

Fine then, maybe I won't tell you where to download the REAL game you're thinking of for free. :P

Naw that would be cruel ;) Here you go:

I was eventually able to find it. If THAT isn't the one you're thinking of, that means there's at least three different DOS guessing games called "Sherlock". Which would be quite the coincidence. But I am 99.9% sure that's the one you're looking for ;)
