A few liberated games from my collection:

Post by Spaceveteran »

Hi all.

Following the advice of the moderators here, I am making available here a few games liberated from their authors for preservation's sake and public enjoyment. Given that those are hosted on a few sites I'll send the links over here.

-registered version of Starfire (liberated by Paul Turbett):

https://www.abandonware-france.org/ltf_ ... &fic=liens

-registered version of star hammer, sequel to starfire, liberated by Paul turbett:

https://www.abandonware-france.org/ltf_ ... &fic=liens

-registered version of Xerix 2: the caverns of Mars (liberated by Brendan reville:

https://www.abandonware-france.org/ltf_ ... &fic=liens

-registered version of Astro3D, liberated by Jarrod Davis:

https://www.legendsworld.net/site/downl ... irror=6485

-registered version of worldquest, liberated by Chris Egerter:

https://www.legendsworld.net/site/downl ... rror=19007

All those games have been given free reign to be distributed as seen fit. Some even come with their source code. Each represent several month's worth of research, made in the past or very recently (world quest).

I hope you have fun with them.

In return, I would please ask for your help to contact a certain Bradley Allen on YouTube in order to preserve the battle star 1 and 2 games from vivvid technologies, as presented in this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=27641

Those games are the last dos games I'm searching for and it would be sweet closure to have them at last from their creator. I have made a request already and I believe he will be drawn to it if others do as well.

Many thanks in advance.

Edit: i could also propose the registered version of axia by wildcard design but I haven't had a clear answer that the author authorises release (despite he giving me access to the registered version).

Spaceveteran, thank you for all the great work in liberating these games! Deeply appreciated.

Would you mind signing up at the RGB Classic Games Forums and re-posting this in the Game requests section?

Axia is a nice game for sure! But IIRC Wildcard Design was just the publisher while the developer is Dungeon Dwellers Design? Does WD still have the rights to the game?

Good question. I'd have to look back on my archived emails to see regarding rights.

I'll post my request at RGB.

Thanks!

BTW, I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but back in 2010, one of the developers of Operation Vulture 3:Cyber Chopper showed up in a thread discussing this game at Abandonia forums and said they were ready to release their every shareware game as public domain:
Hey. One half of H/M Software here.

I'd say we're prepared to public domain everything we've done as shareware. I don't know how to make that legal, but there you go.

I noticed that even though the moderator said [APPROVED] it's still not on the site. I can help sourcing the software, but you can download it pretty much anywhere from one of dozens of DOS game nostalgia web sites. I can also dig up the sequel, which was only made available to folks who registered the shareware version. (Which, by the way, was none of you slackers. We only asked for $15, people...)

Thank you for the comment about the music, Shuan. I wrote all the music, and I was just listening to the Level 1 song today which inspired me to see if anyone remembers the game. Out of the entire Internet, this thread seems to be it.
After a long delay, the author finally uploaded the registered versions of Cyber Chopper and Station 7:

Hi.

Yes, I'm aware of those games. It's nice when authors think of doing this. And it is to be encouraged.

RGB seems to be very still for now.

Unfortunately this is the case, I'm hoping that the site owner will discover your post sometime and take note.
