What do you think of forum (or cuss thread)

Post by kittie »

Please I want to hear your thoughts on how this forum is being kept and what needs to be changed.

I think there should be some censors, censor out the f-word especially.

Albeit I think Dogbreath and his moderators are doing OK for the most part.

This forum has its ups and downs, like some things in life. As well, it has a vivid history of bad and good things, tragedies, excitement, etc.

Yeah, this place has had it tough at times. But for now I guess it's fine.

yeah, the censor is a good idea - the ikonboard days were a lot cleaner than these ones.

Why censor words if we all already know the meaning?

It's easier on the eyes, example: do you want to look at a picture of someone puking, or a picture of someone picking their nose? That's what bad words are kind of like.

F*** is less provocative/irksome/beligerent/extreme/etc.
The real f-word creates a "dark cloud" atmosphere of sorts.

How? There isn't a single English speaking person over 4 years old on the planet that doesn't know what "f***" stands for, so why censor it? The feeling and meaning behind the word is the exact same, so why should it be purposely misspelled?

(btw, fuck, as is, is almost exclusively used as an exclamation and/or insult. If someone were to use it in the literal sense (and go into detail) the post would probably be deleted... but heck, you could be obscene without using any "naughty" words whatsoever)

Well we seem to all be old enough. But as this is registered members only and we all signed an agreement.

Couldnt we just have General Off topic for the swearing instead of forum wide.

Censorship is bad. It just limits our ability to express what we feel. Sometimes people get fucking angry, sometimes people act like cunts, and everyone takes shits.

Paragraph 1: Dumbass. "there isnt a single English speaking person over 4 years old on the planet that doesnt know what f*** stands for"???? are you so goddamn stupid, or did your mother raise you with the sheeps? First of all, children dont know how to read till around 6, and thats at the most basic level. Second, children dont know what fuck means till much later, as they have no idea about the proccess itself. all they know, is that this word, fuck, is considered bad, (the reason why the ***'s). so, what do you think those children will do? imagine if you had a little sister, who likes dos games (dave, death rally, or whatever. not sure if there are any Barbie games for dos. if there arent, there should be. its a goddamn discrimination), and this little sister goes to mom and says, "Fuck you, mom", or "Dad, the dick, dad!". (note: this is in no way related to Dogbreath, so dont try to nitpick my words). what do you think those parents would ask the child? "where did you learn how to swear like a sailor, sweetie?", "at emzee's forum, mom", "oh, is that so?" pile up 3 or 4 cases like that, and you got a mess in your hands. This is not an exaggeration. its more than plausible. it has happened on gamehippo countless time, (parents mailing boson about indecencies seen on the forums).
if everyone knows what f*** stands for, anyways, why not use it. at least saves the ones who dont know it the trouble of googling for it (no idea what sort of results they'd get).
but, lets screw the children (not literally). Id really hate reading through a forum filled with obscenities from a computer where other people are around me. it just doesnt look nice reading through fucks and shits and pisses and fags and merde like that.

Paragraph 2: Lemme give this a try. its probably going to be wrong as hell. Mods, you can delete between the dotted line. wish me luck! :D
-----------------------------------------------
Deleted between the dotted lines.

how was it. didnt have time to think this over much, as I got some horses to feed.

In an attempt to be intelligent, not smutty, as it may be percieved;

Did you know that the word 'FUCK' is thought to have been created to stand for Fornication, Underage, Carnal Knowledge?
