Where the men are real men! And the women, er, are also really men! And the children are police. (and the Russian women have beards!)

I'd post more, but you know, that whole "war" thing is distracting.

I remember once Wardrich saying(writing tbh :) ) that a real man plays ADOM without his underwear. Man those were the days... Duke 3D,Blood,etc. Still like to play them occasionally but not that long like in the old days,i now mostly play HOMM2,and since i got an Android phone i play Duke 3D on it :3 hahah
Anyhoo I'm quite active on Facebook since my phone has integration with in and also Twitter, you can contact me on any of those 2 places.I usually reply immediately since I've got my mobile with me all the time.
As for the forum,I check it out from time to time,I usually don't post cause I don't have anything smart to add.Unlike the old days... *Bad Ro@m bad*
Anyhow, nice to see you all guys doing well.

EDIT: And yeah, sorry for,uh bringing the thread back from the dead...Or something like that :)

Wardrich said what now?

For all you ADOM fans out there, there's some good news. After 11 freaking years, TB finally got off his butt and decided to start working on JADE - last week, he finally released the first winnable version. You can get it here: http://www.ancientdomainsofmystery.com/

Note the game's still pretty alpha at this point, as well as currently being fairly simple. (though remarkably bug free - he's doing it right this time around) At the current development rate, you can expect 1.0.0 in <strike>the year 2056</strike> a year or so. He's actually working on it at a pretty quick pace.

(For those who don't know the story: back in 1994, the author (at that point a college student) was intent on making his own heavily modified version of Nethack. By the time he finally got his hands on the Nethack source code, though, he found it was too large and tangled to easily modify, so he ended up designing his own game - teaching himself how to program in the process. After 7 years of on and off work he released ADOM 1.0.0 - which is commonly regarded as one of the best Roguelikes ever made. Over the past 10 years, though, he's gotten his PHD and started his own company, and hasn't had time to modify his game any further - part of the problem being that the source code is so convoluted and poorly documented that, say, just trying to find the source of one bug might take him 10 or 20 hours of mind numbing drudgery searching through it. Instead, he decided to make a fresh start and create a sequel to ADOM. JADE has been around in one form or another for 11 years, but it wasn't until this summer he actually had the time to set down and start working on it.)

I'm pretty comfortable now with the idea that DGF as a community forum has ended - all of us who were teenagers here and grew up together.........

I share the sentiment but my time spent here is trivial compared to the prominent members of this forum even as this forum flickers in its own supposed twilight.

I'm sorry guys if this is not an entirely appropriate place to post, but the General section of the Find Old Games section of the forums has been invaded by spambots recently. I've PMd emmzee about it and a while ago he cleaned up some of the bots, but now he seems to be on vacation or something.

Could you please do something about that?

Sorry guys now that I'm working full time and also (technically) in school full time I don't have as much opportunity to monitor the site :( I appreciate your continued assistance in keeping the forum free of :spam:
