Quest for Glory 4- bugs, bugs and more bugs

Post by Guest »

Hi.
I 've been playing QFG 4 recently and I've encountered some annoying and probabbly making the game unplayable to the very end bugs. Firstly I can't do anything with the Ghost of Anna as opposed to what it says in the walkthrough. I mean I talk to her every night and still nothing new. Odd, and I didn't find anyone talking about this problem on the internet. Now the second one is with Leshy. I've collected the tree as he said. Planted it in the Garden of Erana and came to the Leshy place to reap the fruits of my effort yet instead of another riddle or so the Leshy goes like "Nanahananahananana" and moves around hiding in one of the bushes so that I can't reach him. I can't do anything at all about it. Well I'm in day 15 and I can't solve the Baba Yaga quest nor the Anna quest... So what- should I restart the game or what? I would be very glad and grateful if someone could throw some light on this mystery and help me move further in the game.

Thx in advance, Adam

Use a walkthrough, and see if you havn't skipped any parts, because some parts shouldn't be done before other parts...

You're probably just forgetting something...

I'm also having an issue with a bug, the game crashes everytime I try to exit the screen from the monks tomb no matter how I go about doing it. Something about dumping script 545. I tried all the patches and slowing down my cpu to no avail.

It's indeed a speed problem. You'll have to reduce you're speed even muuuuuuuuch lower, it worked for me....

Does anybody experience sound-problems with QFG 4? I installed the english speech version - I installed the Dos-Version under Win XP - there is sound and music, but the speech is very unclear and full of interferences! I applied the patch from new rising sun..but it didn´t change anything. I´d like to receive some hints how to resolve that problem.

thanks in advance

QFG4 - bug when facing the first badders as pala/fig

Post by Guest »

Help! I've tried everything to get the game running (D-Fend / Dosbox right now) and when I finally did it just crashes when I meet the first monsters! I imported my 1-->2-->3--> Paladin to the game, searched the corpses, took the torch, entered the altar room, took the sword and shield, and when I'm supposed to get mobbed by the badders the game just crashes. Boom. Any suggestions? Running on 2Ghz p4, WinXp pro. Installed windows version / replaced with dosonly files to get it to run, just like told to. What am I doing wrong?

Ive owned every version of this game and Ive had problems with each one. The problems all seem to be different based on which version though. THe most playable one Ive found was the diskette version, but those seem to have gone missing.

Ive been working on the cd and the anthology versions lately and Ive had serious issues with the game crashing near the end game. From the resucue Tanya bit onward the game crashes constantly, and just wont move past the dungeon scene.

Anyone have this problem? If so any ideas on resolving it?

The Leshy Bush

Post by mrskigo »

Apparently not as many people have problems with this.....but I have the same problem as the first poster, that the Leshy will hide in the moving bush (before the second riddle), and when I try to use the hand function on it, it gives me an error 126 and boots me to DOS. I use DOSbox already, I have slowed the game speed using the game options AND game detail...I have no idea how to slow down my computer, if that's possible, and I don't know if it would work...I have downloaded all the patches available. Somebody PLEASE HELP!

When you reduce the CPU cycles in dosbox it's completely useless to slowdown your PC.
QfGlory is indeed buggy.
What you eventually can try is play through that section with your sound turned off......

Well, that didn't work at all....anyone else have any suggestions? I don't know how I can avoid doing this in the game, but maybe if I wait to do it, it won't happen? :upset:

Well, it gets even better....now that I've installed the general patches I found, it messes up in the beginning, when I try to fight the Badders...dang, I've got bad luck or something!

Wish the original poster told us if this is the talkie version or not. I've been able to solve all these problems once before, then have tried to play through again with all the patches and have it still mess up. It might be hit and miss. I know one problem consistant is towards the end of the game, when you meet you rivial from QFG3, you need to run to the right, if you get caught anywhere else the game crashes.

About Leeshy, you should be able to touch the bushes until he says "ohh you got me" If you find a point you can't touch him, right click on yourself or something will bring up the dialog window.

This topic has gone on from 2005, wouldn't doubt if more problems keep poping up. Dosbox keeps trying to update to work well with new computers, and vista etc. I love that crew and all their efforts.

Quest for Glory 4- bugs, bugs and more bugs

The bug only crashes the DOS window when you touch the Leshy itself. Just click each bush it's hiding behind. When they've all disappeared, he'll appear and begin a dialogue.
