Please:
Give your system specs ( CPU?OS?)
Post your mount lines.( ALL of them, what you used for install, what you used to play).
Dosbox version?

*Edit
Waw, XPsp2, that's one, now the rest ..........

So the game installed fine then? That's a plus.

mount c c:\dosgames
mount d d:\ -t cdrom
c:
cd fifa96
fifa96

Try this.
Not sure it will work, FIFA96 seems very tricky to get working in dosbox, on one system it works flawless, on the other it simply refuses.
It seems related to the copy protection.

But say isn't the soundchip on a Toshiba SB compatible? Did you try to run FIFA96 directly in Xp with comp set to W95 and 640x480 screen?
The SB settings in XP are usually: A220 IRQ5 DMA1.

One thing is sure however: it works in VPC2007 with W98SE on it. If it's worth to install VPC on your laptop ...512 MB ram is a bit low for VPC2007/W98SE.
You eventually could try VPC2004 with MSDos6.22. (Demands less ressources).

no... the sound is ok!

i've tested it in the install program, and it was ok...

i've already tried run as win95 compatibility with low resolution... but the result is the same...
File read error !!!

in the dosbox official site says that fifa96 is compatible with dosbox/winxp..

i have the original game!!!

i've paid for it!

I've took a look on Vogons forum, did a search for 'Fifa96', and they say the same, works for some, not for others. I'ts hardware related, no solution when you get the specific error you have.

Your best shot will be VPC2004 running MSDOS6 in it, or Win95/98.
But I think that your laptop will handle MSDos better than Win95/98.

Take a look here:
http://www.dosgames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5921
Vpc 2004 is downloadable free @
>> MS VPC 2004 <<
MSDos is yours to find.

I forgot to mention this:
Don't run FIFA96 in Windows by using the gamefiles from dosbox, your path is wrong in the config file.
You need to install the game in Windows, or it will never work.
