Getting DOS game to play on windows xp

I purchased a cd copy of cosmo's cosmic adventure and I myself do not know much about computers. I know a decent amount, but my tech support is deployed so I am left to figure it out alone. I have downloaded a dosbox program but i am unable to get the program loaded onto the computer. It says I need a 32 or 64 bit something or another. Any help that is offered would be awesome!

Best get dosbox to run those old games to run on XP.
