Adventure/quest game

Okay so I use to play this when I was younger so I know its like sometime before 2010 or so and possibly before the 2000s. It's an adventure/quest type game. Specific details a bit fuzzy but it takes place in an older time period kinda (possibly medieval times?). It's third person and could have pet(s). I'm pretty sure I had a dog and you would go around gather things and could fish. And the main character I played was a young boy. That's all I can remember. I played it on a computer (positive it was Windows) and pretty sure it was downloaded. Any information would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

When you say adventure, do you mean a game like Monkey Island, i.e. you mostly talk to people and solve puzzles, or was it more like free roaming without a clear objective, or a survival game?

You could try poking around the list of games with fishing, but otherwise we need more details to figure this one out.
