DOS space strategy game [Reunion]

Post by Mady »

Hi everyone.

Perhaps you could help me find an old sci-fi strategy game - its really driving me nuts.

I believe it was a dos game. Had to be from the 90s.
Might be an easy one. There are a couple things I remember:

- It was a space strategy game sort of like master of orion, but more original. It was all realtime with time flow speed control, I believe.
- You were sending drones to planets. Colonizing them etc.
- Had a female protagonist. You could see her on the main screen standing in front of the map. I think you could click the map to go to colony view and build stuff.
Also, you could hire advisors for certain areas like warfare, economics. Then they would stand next to her.
In game intro the female commander was standing on her arms naked, in water, I think. I remember it really struck me as a kid, lol. I got to see that intro.
- You could go to a pub and ask for galaxy rumors.
- Space battles were automatic in real time. You could see flying dots for ships and your warfare advisor commanding them.
- I think there were land battles too.
- The name of the game was the name of a resource, probably metal, that was used in the game and was rare.

Save me from insanity.

i think i know which one you mean, you had a main ship and you decided which planets to land on which turned the game into an rts? i am sure if i think about it the name will come to me

Actually that doesnt sound like it. I think you started the game with a working colony then had to research colony ships.

It was an rts all the time in a sense that your research progressed in real time, resources increased in real time and there was a timer for certain events. I remember that as a kid I couldn't figure out how to survive the second attack. At some point I ran out of researches and didn't know how to discover new stuff ( like unlock research of better space fighters ). I guess its bugging me still : P
That, and boobs.

Hmm, I've glimpsed through these two lists and nothing seems to fit the part with the title being the name of a resource, or the female protagonist (there's a separate list on MobyGames about that), but otherwise there are a few seemingly similar games (take a look at Reunion for example).

It is Reunion! I guess I got a couple of things mixed up, but was right about this:

(watch the 7 in http, not allowed to post links)

Quick screenshot from the intro, hehe... Sort of right I guess. She is jumping into water, not standing, but whatever.

That was fast, thanks a lot. I gotta find a way to play this.

Whoah, I've watched the intro video on YouTube, and there's absolutely nothing "pornographic" or even remotely erotic about that pic. I do wonder though how a black-and-white drawing of a topless girl jumping into water should symbolise the solution of ecological problems the narrator is talking about, but that's a different question.
