Games similar to KGB (or other detective-mystery games)?

Post by ns123 »

Can anyone recommend me any games like KGB (aka Conspiracy), or other games in the detective-mystery genre? They don't have to be DOS.
No supernatural/horror/fantasy type games!

Thanks in advance. :)

KGB/Conspiracy had it's uniqueness, open but unforgiving. Usually detective stories try to control & lead your actions more closely, like many other adventure games.

Some other detective games/series:

CSI series (many to choose from, sometimes bordering on hidden-object games)

Tex Murphy series (a bit futuristic, but not paranormal)

Laura Bow series (old school, DOS)

Broken Sword series (DOS & Windows)

Lots of Sherlock Holmes games to choose from.

Jack Orlando (I liked the style of this one)

The Space Bar, a sci-fi style detective story, maybe off your preference chart.

I don't know the game, but based on Rwolf's list and the name "KGB/Conspiracy", maybe take a look at Codename: Iceman, Spycraft: The Great Game, or even Sid Meier's Covert Action?

Edit:
Or maybe Murder on the Orient Express?

Also, might check out a list like Gog's Adventure Games for anything that looks interesting - orient express, to the moon, broken sword, runaway - some of those might fit what you are looking for, but will have darker stuff like Gabriel Knight series that you're probably trying to avoid.
