I just tried Warcraft 1.22H on WinXP Pro using VDMSound . I set up my sound and music devices as "Sound Blaster Pro, 220h, IRQ 5, DMA 1" and I got the game working perfectly, without any slowdowns, with perfect sound and music. No need for DOSBox or "Compatibility Mode". The scro...

You are a terrible spammer, you know that? You don't deserve help. Anyhow, I have a legit copy of Prince of Persia 2. I just tried running it from WinXP using VDMSound, emulating Sound Blaster or Sound Blaster Pro. I do get music and sound effects, but it halts at various places, like the one you me...

Indeed it seems like this card is not MS-DOS compatible. I'd ask you if it's ISA or PCI, but I doubt you'd be able to tell me. It's also the first time I heard of it, so it's probably a crappy card. If you have ISA slots on your motherboard, get a Creative ISA card and you'll be able to play all the...

The first game is called Ball Game 2 . It's really really old. I couldn't find a download link, but I have this game. Give me your e-mail address and I will e-mail it to you. The second game is indeed Skyroads or its prequel, Kosmonaut. I suggest you go to the company's official page here and downlo...

I want a command prompt that's short and to the point and lets me know exactly what the current drive and directory is. There ain't nothing better than the standard command prompt for that.

I have yet to see a DOS game that doesn't work with PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 mice. It would have to be a really old DOS game or a really crappy one.

Whether WinXP's extra options are nice or annoying is a matter of opinion, but its stability is unquestionable. Unless you're into DOS gaming, 2K/XP blow 98/98SE away totally. But people on this site obviously ARE into DOS gaming, so I can understand the somewhat negative attitude towards the NT-ker...

Have you tried UVCONFIG? I'm not familiar with the GeForce cards and whether they support VESA / can be made to support VESA, because I never tried to run VESA games on anything newer than a Voodoo 3000. Perhaps you can resolve this issue, but maybe you should just aim towards getting Warcraft II: B...

That would be Socket A. Most likely because the only company that makes socket A CPUs is AMD. There are a TON of diffrent Socket A Mobo makers. Mines ASUS, and I know Gigabyte, MSI, and nVidia also make them. There are a ton more. The majority of big mobo makers make mobos for both Intel and AMD ch...

When people say DOS they mean the DOS core, that is the set of operating system functions that are available for programmers, the way DOS handles memory, drivers, etc. In this sense, WinNT/2K/XP are not DOS. They provide a partial emulation of DOS (compatibility mode and the likes of it) and they ha...

Short answer: you can't. Longer answer: even if you can, you don't want to. Like emmzee said, finding oldie-compatible hardware for laptops is ten times harder than for desktop PCs, because the parts are much less standard and much more rare. If emulators is what you want, move to the Windows versio...

Looking for an old game called CHEWIT

Apparently this game was some special version of the famous CD-MAN 2.0. I've learned on it from a text file which came with CD-MAN 2.0, but I have never seen it, and since the company (Creative Dimensions) doesn't seem to exist anymore, I can't find it. Perhaps someone has heard of it? The chances a...
