DOS Games Discussion

Some people look better when they are young, some people look better when they are old. Quite a few popular TV?movie stars (women and men) look better older then they did when they were teens. Some of the hottest girls in my highschool class look very bad now in their 30's, they peaked way too soon....

Very cold in ohio, one of the plastic trashcans out back cracked into pieces the other day releasing its contents into the yard.

I don't see the US wanting Canada or Mexico, the canadians have too many personal rights they don't want to loose (national healthcare) and the Mexicans are convenient to exploit economically.

The pizza hot pockets cooked in a toaster oven are ok if you are hungry and its too late to eat out.

Its funny, but I have a few 486 machines but none are dedicated to DOS Games. A tandy 1000 or PC Jr is best for older CGA type games, nothing newer outside of emulation can touch it because of hardware quirks. Some games needed card specific 3d patches to get hardware acceleration to work.

If you can find the game files on the net (should be able to easy enough) there are programs that convert the digital file to a WAV file (link posted below). Once you get the WAV file you can burn multiple games to a CD as audio tracks, then get cd player to pump the audio out to your spectrum tape ...

There is no single perfect DOS machine, but a simple Pentium 166-233 with a soundblaster 16, 2GB HD, CDROM, and 16MB RAM should be enough for most people.

Is this your way of getting people to learn how to read?

Can't think of a single dream DOS machine since one can't do it all. I would probably keep what I have and add a ROLAND MIDI box to my 386/40 and probably a flight stick and pedals to my Pentium 200.

486 machines are not as common as they used to be since most have been recycled (atleast here in the US).

Do you collect DOS games in their original boxes or just the disks and manuals?

I regret years ago tossing the boxes for most of my old DOS games, anything I collect now stays in the box.

What about you guys?
