Does your 865 chipset mobo have ISA slots? If so, just get an ISA card and be happy. SB PCI DOS drivers work in principle, but not always.

Cats. They are cleaner and less noisy (most of the time, except during mating season). Since ours is neutered, it's even cleaner and never noisy.

I think SBLive! allows you to load SF2 files via it's AudioHQ. I don't remember exactly how it's done. Might try it later on my older desktop that has SBLive!.

The thing is that while the first three Heroes games built features incrementally on top of each other, the fourth game changed so much that it was an entirely different game. And so many fans of the series didn't like it. I understand that the fifth game is supposed to be more like the first three.

Command.com isn't DOS. It's just the command interpreter. It's possible to use an alternate command interpreter (like 4DOS or NDOS). Windows 98 _IS_ a DOS based system. It runs over a pure DOS core (unlike NT-based systems) and maintains a lot of backwards compatibility even in it's graphical 32-bit...

If I'm not mistaken the only thing that's really needed to get sound of a Creative Soundblaster in pure DOS environment is CTCM.EXE.
