Fighting game where you save a girl, ~2000s

You might want to ask around elsewhere, like Reddit. Flash games aren't exactly our field of expertise here.

Something like a side-scrolling beat-'m-up? Like Beats of Rage?

You're welcome! IIRC there are several demo versions available, not sure what the single player part is as the servers are no longer online AFAIK.

Maybe look at Laser Squad Nemesis? I never played it myself so some details may no match (e.g. I'm not sure about the HQ) but I think it does have the factions similar to what you describe.

Late 90's demoware compilation CD

Maybe there's a way to reverse lookup these games? For example, find every compilation CD these games were on? Obviously that would only be possible if there were a complete, exhaustive index of every shovelware CD's contents, but there isn't, so you can't. From my experience I can tell you that a ...

Retro games comic - This Strife

@MaverickUK, can you see your images that you're posting here? They're not showing for me, possibly because the width is greater than the width of the post text space, and the forum engine does not auto-fit large images for some reason (I hoped this would be fixed with the switch to phpBB3 but appar...

Shareware, demo and freeware downloads

I just came across a freeware German game called Twinland by browsing this website . I haven't figured out how exactly it plays, but from the manual, it looks like the goal is to unite two separately controlled characters, but before that you need to find character-specific items. The same source pr...

DOS games that don't need DOSBox to run in Windows

Aaand now there's a way to play Speed Haste natively on Windows: GLSpeed (based on original source code).

Space turn based strategy game

I'm not very familiar with the space strategy genre, but maybe look at one of these:
Dark Universe
Iron Seed
Imperium Galactica

Also please read the posting rules and fill in more details according to the guidelines there, it might help a lot to narrow down the search.

Game based on Cultures

The game was available for download from the developers' site:
http://www.funatics.de/html/german/downloads.html#CulturesBegin

Unfortunately the Wayback Machine does not have the file itself (Cultures%20-%20The%20Beginning.exe).

Compilation CD of 50 Games

The short story is, you're far more likely to identify the individual games that you remember, rather than find the exact compilation CD you originally found them on. It is generally advised to create a separate thread for each game request as per our forum rules . I won't insist on that in your cas...

Unless someone recognises this quote there is little we can do to help you identify it. Try asking around at Reddit, there are more people there.

Windows Bird's eye view platform game with an alien

the main character wears something that reminds a blue/purple/green robe like an mage. He can travel through cities with an space bus, idk he's like an alien. There were a lot of puzzles in the game. This reminded me of Twinsen from the Little Big Adventure series, albeit the game is about a decade...

Porting DOS games to modern platforms

Hey, that's very cool, thanks for sharing! Previously you mentioned that some games lend themselves to this kind of reverse-engineering better than others, depending on the way they were coded. Can you give any more guidelines as to which games would have a higher probability of successful reverse-e...
