freebasic has been released.

freebasic.bad-logic.com

note it doesn't support all commands. For example, graphics. But a guy named sterling is making a lib to support qb graphics commands. Nice sterling. :)

eh... right. To compile basic code you need alot of 3rd party software? WRONG!!! Microsoft includes everything you need to compile quickbasic. Qbasic 1.1 is merely a stripped down version of quickbasic. Also, V1ct0r is creating a basic compiler that compiles basic code into WINDOWS PROGRAMS!!! It's ...

Frenkel: yes, you could do anything in assembly, but you wouldn't want to use 1000 lines of assembly to make a game that takes 10 lines of basic, would you? Enigma: I never thought you said that gwbasic was better than qbasic. However, since most people at qbasicnews have dealt with gwbasic too, the...

wow... i've never seen darkdread outside of rpgdx. although i'm sure he frequents many sites.

The thing is, darkdread quit again... a long time ago. it seems he came back again, and is making a non-free game.

http://darkdreams.rpgdx.net/

his website.

4 games isn't very many. Darkdread has over a dozen under his belt. Pity he's lost his interest in programming (again). He's starting to sound like micheal jordan. retires, comes back. retires again, comes back, etc. etc. Being a good enough programmer to make a zelda quality game isn't easy either....

lol... the hardest things about making a game in basic (fully graphical) is the

1. speed restrictions
2. memory restrictions

but use a lib and your laughing at number one. use xms/ems and your laughing at number two.

....

if you want to create an ascii game, why not just learn how to program? ascii games are quite easy once you get the hang of it. in fact, learn qbasic and join qbtk.com's roguelike challenge! personally, i think programming is much better than an maker because it's more flexible.
