Who still uses Windows 3.x

Post by Interon 2.0 »

I use Windows for Workgroups 3.11 on an old 386.

Anyone else still use a pre-95 Windows for any reason at all?

What reason do you use it for?

A little bit of nostalgic sentiment, and also for its simplicity (No big clunky registry WooHoo!) Also it is faster and smaller, and has a large variety of software that can run on it.

I had an old clunker with Windows 3.1 on it for a long time up until a couple years ago when my sister fried it. (she was borrowing it and it got struck by lightning) Since then I've gotten by with Windows 98 SE (my personal favorite) though I might buy an old computer and run 3.1 on it for nostalgia if nothing else... I really enjoyed it.

...Struck by lightening? That's an interesting thought...

I do have an old Amstrad that has it on it but I just dont know why...
Sometimes Win 3.1 does stop some DOS activities Such as playing some games and so on.

I used to have windows 3.1 installed just for fun. I played the Magic School bus and Dino Hunter all day long. I lost Dino Hunter or it wouldn't work right after a while, and so I just played the Magic School bus. I miss those times....

I have WFW on a 386/40 and a 486/66 system.

The 386 is a games machine but I use IE5 to grab files from the net on ocasion and use some windows utilities for cleaning things up (32mb ram on that machine).

The 486 is for using old windows 3.1 era hardware at its fullest (has top of the line VLB equipment in it)

I have a virtual machine with NT 3.51 that works great, high res 32 bit graphics, sound, ethernet. It's not the "real" thing, but it's the next best thing.

Yeah, NT 3.51 was cool, if you wanted to take the Windows 3.1 experience to a whole new level.

I have three computers. One of them has Windows 3.1 (with Dos), the other one has Windows 98 and they other one has Windows 2000. So almost every game will work.
I see all. Warning, becareful what you do.
IF you are using Firefox, Netscape, or Internet Explorer, I could see you and where you live.
