DOSBox conf options

Post by tienkhoanguyen »

This is the most powerful option you can find on DOSBox for your games.

Imagine being able to set your superfast computer to old DOS speed.

In fact DOSBox is even better than VirtualBox using DOS.

In VirtualBox under a modern computer my DOS game flies too fast!

However, DOSBox is meant to slow it down to about the speed of DOS mode.

If you happen to have VirtualBox there is a cpu cap;
I do not know how good it is at limiting speed though.
Plus you have to have DOS installed............

In WinRAR you can even use the command line to automatically run your conf file and start your DOS game automatically. It is a little complicated however an example is:

DOSBox.exe -conf "C:\gamedirectory\conf.ini"

You would enter the above line in the WinRAR self-extraction mode where it says what to run automatically.

Of course, you have to set up your conf.ini so DOSBox would mount and go to the directory where you game is extracted to.

Then it would run it since it is declared in conf.ini to run automatically after mounting the C: drive and goto to yourdirectory.

So this conf option is very powerful.

Well, I am tired out been working all night long hope my tips come in handy for those trying to distribute their DOS games in Windows.
