Hi everyone,

Can somebody help me with the name of this game? Here's what I remember: It is a space strategy, turn based game I used to play in 97-98. It's similar to Master of Orion and Ascendancy. You start the game by sending out scout ships to discover planets that are inhabitable or useable (mining). Once you discover a planet that would support your life-form, you send out your colonization ship. These, depending on the technology at the time, can take quite a few turns to get there. Once you get there, the ship is cannabalized for materials to start the colony. Some worlds, which are close to your life forms' living parameters, can be terraformed for colonization.

As the game progresses, different technologies are made available to you. You can start putting stronger shields, better engines, better weapons. You can attack other fleets of ships or other planets. You attack planets by transporting assault troops to that planet and doing a ground assault. You can also use neutron bombs to take out the planet's population without harming existing buildings. Because it was a shareware game at the time I played, I didn't get pass level 10 of the tech tree. There were cruisers and destroyers available.

Thank you for being patient in reading through this description. I know it is not complete, but it is what I remember. Please help! I will be eternally grateful.

That 'neutron' thing doesn't rings a bell .. Sad
But take a look there:

There is a long list of 4X games, with a bit of luck the one you're looking for is listed on Mobys.
Or maybe here:

Good luck. Happy

[EDIT]
Stars! it is.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for reading about my plight to find and play Stars. Now I can't play w/o a serial #. Does anyone have one? Many thanks.

Uhmm sorry but this isn't the place to ask for serial numbers...

Google is your friend..

Locked.

The reason why I was asking is because they don't even have that game to purchase anymore. In other words, there is no way I can play because they have discontinued their release. I have no recourse. They promised a re-release but it never happened. Sad
