I'm trying to get Panzer General 1 to run under Dosbox .73.

I moved the PG folder into the oldgames folder and set the sound fine and the game starts up but when it goes to switch from the introduction screen into the actual game menu the game freezes.

In the console window I get a couple pages of errors that say

Illegal read from 446e5ae4, CS:IP 180: 1e9b49

and variations of what I'm guessing are memory addresses?

Any ideas on what may be causing the errors and how to adjust/fix setting in Dosbox?

Thanks in advance.

Ah so......

...And what are you typing @the dosbox prompt to:
Install the game?
Configure the game?
Run the game?

BTW, original game or downloaded?

It's a downloaded version of PG, I've lost the original a few years back in a fire Sad .

Installed the game into the /oldgames folder under folder PG1. So I start Dosbox, type CD PG1 to change to proper folder, then type PG to execute the standard batch file, no modifications or switches added to the downloaded game.

The startup screen comes up displaying the credits and then allows a mouse click which then should open up the menu screen. At this point the menu screen opens but the lower left quadrant which would normally display a generic military video immediately seizes causing the entire screen to freeze and not allow any clicks. All sound works fine.

When I switch to the console window it shows the error as described in the OP.

Sounds as a bad rip / wrong sound config to me ....
Try to run sound once and select SB pro for everything.

If that doesn't help get the abandonia copy, that one works fine.
