The Incredible Machine
The Incredible Machine is a simple game with a complex challenge behind it. You are given a set number of particular pieces and must figure out how to use them to your best ability achieve the goal for the level. Some of the zany pieces in this game include a hamster cage, fishbowl, monky-on-a-bike, pistol, treadmill, and many others.

Oregon Trail
This game is available on the underdogs site, however, I currently cannot reach the site as it is suffering from heavy traffic, or an update, or something...

Cross Country Canada
Cross Country Canada puts you in the place of a truck driver who must go all over Canada picking up and dropping off commodities. This is not an easy task however, as you must make several stops to hotels, gas stations, and restaruants along the way.

Rodent's Revenge
Rodent's Revenge is a classic cat-and-mouse game. You, as a mouse, have to outsmart the cat and trap it in a 1x1 grid by pushing blocks. If the cat gets you, you die. As you beat the levels, more cats will appear and the game gets harder. In the harder levels there are new obstacles, such as purple balls of yarn, sinkholes, and mousetraps.
This is a simple game - there is no sound, and there are a total of 11 different colors. I can see why some people wouldn't like this game and would think it's boring, but I think it's a great classic. If you're looking for a simple, well-made game with great gameplay, get Rodent's Revenge.
Jazz Jackrabbit
A pretty cool platform game that tries to borrow from Sonic the Hedgehog, with mixed results. It actually plays a bit slower than Sonic, but includes more shoot'em'up action. Basically you run through the VGA levels, picking up upgrades to your guns, while blasting mostly cute enemies. Fun, but the levels get a bit repetitive at times.
Gods
A great conversion of Bitmap Brother's Amiga classic, Gods is a very stylish platform game that is famous for offering many nice twists and ideas, including puzzles, adventure-game style inventory, and a lot of cool power-ups and weapons. For sure one of the best games in its genre. The only things missing from the Amiga game are the cool background Copper effects, sadly some of the atmospheric sound effects. The smooth-as-silk scrolling of the Amiga version is also missing, although the scrolling looks okay for PC standards of that time. Given the awful music of most Amiga-to-PC conversions, I was pleasantly surprised that the very cool title music by Nation XII (John Foxx) made it to the PC - a decent FM-sample mix version.

Banania
That "banania" game that everybody is requesting. You're a small happy face thing, and you eat bananas and move blocks around while avoiding bad guys... not much more to it.
PS: 90% of the game descriptions have been "borrowed" from other sites.

Thanks for Solidarity_296 and Jens for their tireless quest and dosgames.com for making it all possible. I linked back to this thread from the Evasive Maneuvers page.
(And thanks Dogbreath, but we'd like to keep the full game on the Evasive Maneuvers site, so anyone downloading it can get the full backstory and Evasive Maneuvers experience.) |
