Massive Darkness boardgame

Post by Quadko »

We played Massive Darkness last week at the local game store's boardgame night, and again this week.

That was lots of fun, though we lost both times! Wow, but it has lots of shiny models and artifacts and trays.

It was a recent kickstarter campaign, and will be in stores here soon. It's a dungeon crawl board game trying to squeeze much of the fun of a D&D campaign into a 90 minute session, and they did a great job. It also felt like they did a great job taking the fun of minatures games (Warhammer, D&D) and putting it in a boardgame context.

Apparently the company CMON has several successful games so far, and the mechanics of this one is based on an earlier zombie game, but Massive Darkness is all D&D fantasy. And has great models and maps and so forth. The pictures are worth checking out for that alone.

There's a Tabletop Simulator based digital version of the earlier zombie game Zombicide. Maybe that means eventually they'll have a MD digital version, too!
