I am new to DOS, and I've got the basic mounting and unzipping down. Though when I downloaded Humbug, it just downloaded an application file. So I mount my folder, and open the directory. I type in Humbug, and that's when other files appear in the folder. So I type in Config and run that. The config's all set up and so another file pops up. It's an Microsoft Outlook configuration application, but I leave that alone. I type in Humbug, but it does nothing but go to the next line.

What am I doing wrong?

Many thanks for any answers.

Oops. I do suppose that would help. Wink

OS- Windows 7

Dosbox version- 0.74

Mount lines- Sorry, please forgive my noobness. I would assume this means the number of lines it takes to mount the folder? In DOSBox, you only use one. Unless you are assuming physical lines, in which I also only use one.

Inputs to run the game- Again, I'm sorry. But what exactly is that?

Config choices- This is only picking the colors of the different components of the window. I don't think this is relevant.

For mount lines, Dosraider is asking you to type here exactly what you type into your dosbox window to try to get the game working. When you say "I mounted my folder" how exactly did you do this?
And once you have mounted your folder, what do you type to attempt playing the game (exactly)?
Have you read through all the stickies on this forum? Some of these may be helpful to you. Otherwise, please provide as much information as you can.

Thanks. When I mount the folder I type:

mount c c:\Users\Mugwump\CoolStuff\DOS

That's the folder where I obviously stick the game.

It says it's mounted, so I switch then to the c drive:

c:

It switches from Z: to C:. I then look in the directory:

dir /p

It then shows HUMBUG with the extension exe among the files. After I ran the config, that's what I typed in, which is what works with my other games. It does nothing when I press enter, as if I pressed just enter.

Thanks for the help, and no stickies are helping unfortunately.

I would advise to read and apply this:
http://www.dosgames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13511
(If for some reason you absolutely want to keep your coolstuff-thing weird folder adapt the mount lines, from here on I will suppose your dosbox runs with virtual C mounted)

Installing/config:
In windows: (dosbox NOT running)
Create a HUMBUG folder on your virtual C:
Move the downloaded file humbug50.exe to the created humbug folder.

Run dosbox and input:

cd humbug
humbug50

This will extract all the needed files.
Input
config
Now hit L That's if you're OK with the color layout, you can also change it to your suit likings, look at the left side for the commands)
Finished? Then hit S This will close the config screen and save your prefd
Input
humbug
to run the game
That's it.

Next time you want to play the game:
Run dosbox and input:

cd humbug
humbug
