I've been trying to run an old classic called Shattered Steel for some time now, and I'm not having any luck - so I'm asking for help!

I have the original CD of Shattered Steel. However it runs very poorly in XP. Windows is terrible when it comes to compatibility issues, so I created an ISO of Shattered Steel which I am running off magicISO. Unfortunately, running Shattered Steel from the magicISO drive in windows leads to horrible graphics and a CD check error.

Please Insert Shattered Steel CD.

I reinstalled the game in the DOSBOX shell, and have no trouble with mounting the installation folder on C and the ISO file with MSCDEX on D. The performance is better, except there is a CD check error again.

This was my first attempt, with the CD check error afterwards.
Code:
Z:\>imgmount D C:\steel.iso -fs iso -t iso

Upon reading the FAQ, I am encouraged to set the label. Unfortunately I am unable to do this with the IMGMOUNT command as it complains

The image must be on a host or local drive.

So I moved the entire contents of the CD (I know, not recommended) onto a directory called C:\steelcd. I am trying the following. The label is the Volume on drive D, 20100522_2305, which I found out from the CMD shell and typing VOL.
Code:
Z:\>mount D C:\steelcd -t cdrom -fs cdrom -label 20100522_2305

This didn't work, so I tried the Volume Serial Number on the D drive.
Code:
Z:\>mount D C:\steelcd -t cdrom -fs cdrom -label 4526-030E

Again this still doesn't work. If anyone has any ideas about getting over the CD check, whether it's this game or another game that they had problems with, I would love to hear from them.

Also, this isn't a problem with MagicISO; I've tried other ISO mounting programs and all of them do not get passed the CD check.

What is most frustrating is that the installation process of the game gives you the option for a smaller installation eg. no movies, but the movies still play when the game loads up - the CD check only fails when you try to begin a mission.

Z:\>imgmount D C:\steel.iso - t iso

Also:
What program did you use to create the ISO?
Need ALL your mount lines.
Need ALL commands you use to run game.
Dosbox version?
"-label 20100522_2305" is NOT a CD label.

[Edit]
Wasn't 100% sure so I had to check my CD, Shattered Steel is a mixed mode CD, so your ISO can't be a valid image.
