Post subject: Old Medieval Turn-Based game. [=Baldur's Gate] |

It was an old medieval game and was turnbased kind of like fallout tactics.
You could kill anyone in the game and loot their bodies and equip anything they were wearing.
The beginning of the game started out where you were talking to your brother, maybe father, in a small room inside a castle. He ends up dead and you have to avenge his death. You go out and train with weapons and get armor till you can eventually get permission to leave the castle and kill monsters.
You can loot chests, bodies, etc, etc like fallout.
The graphics were almost identical to the fallout series.
Thing was, I only played the demo. I got the demo cd out of a gaming mag like 10 years back. When I eventually finished the game it would give you previews of the full game. I never played it after that. I'm a huge fan of fallout type games and this was the one that got away. |

Or maybe your stepfather Gorion?
Your description matches Baldur's Gate fairly well. Except - Baldur's Gate is real time.
Anything else you remember? Anything at all? |

Well there are some minor things.
In the castle there was a big hallway with red/purple carpet. Some doors were locked.
I remember south of the hallway there were people in purple robes and a kitchen maybe?
I think there was like a cellar entrance type thing by the kitchen where you could kill spiders.
Outside the castle there was NPCs training on dummies or maybe other NPC's.
The main gate of the courtyard was guarded and the guard there wouldn't let you out till you got permission from someone.
Still trying to remember more... |

So you've completed the whole game(series) without pausing to issue orders every sixth second? |

Never heard of multi-player? If you're just playing 1 character instead of all 6, it's quite possible to play the game through without pausing. (ideally, almost any party-based game should be played multi-player, but Baldur's Gate provides a lot of interesting NPCs for those who go through alone, too)
However, there's a difference between pausing a game (almost any game allows you to pause), and being turn based like Fallout is.
Cildaten: In the off chance it isn't Baldur's Gate, check out this list. 247 entries... great if you've got a few hours to kill. |

Hrm, good point! Never played it in multi-player myself, I enjoyed the concept of solo Dungeons and Dragons. Even if it meant manually issuing commands to a full party of adventurers. |
