Backlash: A Turret Gunner Simulation is pretty much what its title indicates. Although its presentation in terms of its graphics, sound, menus, brief cutscenes, etc are all well done, the actual game seems to consist mostly of your space ship remaining stationary; your job is simply to blast whatever shows up on your radar. This simplifies the game's control scheme, but preventing any actual control of the ship (in favor of the "turret gunner" model as per its full name) makes you feel a bit stranded in space. The experience is thus a bit underwhelming.
